Privacy

This website is run by Ben Marshan through Marshan Consulting Pty Ltd (ABN 93 678 372 408), based in Sydney, Australia. This page explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. I follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What I collect

  • When you use the contact form: your name, organisation, email address, and what you tell me about your work.

  • When you use the speaking form: your name, email address, and the details of your event, including any budget you choose to share.

  • When you email me: whatever is in your email.

  • When you visit the site: basic, anonymous information about how the site is used, such as pages viewed, browser type and rough location. Wix, the platform that hosts the site, collects this through cookies.

I don't ask for sensitive information, and I'd ask you not to send it through the forms.

Why I collect it

To reply to you, to talk about work or a speaking invitation, and to understand how the site is used so I can improve it. I don't sell your information, and I won't add you to a mailing list unless you subscribe yourself.

Every Chair, the podcast and LinkedIn

Some parts of this site come from other services:

  • The Every Chair subscribe box and posts are run by Substack.

  • The Best Advice Podcast player is from YouTube.

  • The LinkedIn feed shows my public LinkedIn posts.

If you subscribe, play a video or interact with these, the provider handles your information under its own privacy policy. They may set their own cookies.

Where your information is kept

Form messages and site data are stored by Wix, and emails by my email provider. Both may store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. I only use reputable providers, and only for running this site and my business.

How long I keep it

Only as long as I need it to reply to you or to work with you, or as long as the law requires. You can ask me to delete it at any time.

Your choices

  • See or correct your information: email me and I'll tell you what I hold and fix anything that's wrong.

  • Delete your information: email me and I'll delete it, unless I have to keep it by law.

  • Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
