How I help associations, professions and the firms in them
I work with associations and professional bodies when the rules are changing and they need a position that's defensible, winnable and worth writing down. I also work with the firms and professionals who then have to put the new rules into practice. Most of that work falls into one of four situations.
-
When the rules for your profession are being rewritten: Codes of practice and professional standards
-
When government and regulators need to hear your members: Regulatory submissions and advocacy
-
When the board needs a position it can defend: Board papers and regulatory strategy
-
When your people need to understand what changed: Education and CPD design
How does an engagement run?
-
Scope the problem. We agree what has to change, for whom, and what "landed" looks like.
-
Read it from every chair. The practitioner's, the regulator's, the board's and your members'.
-
Draft and test. With the people who will use it, before it goes public.
-
Land it. Through the board, the consultation or the regulator, and report back on what happened.
Engagements run as a monthly retainer or as a defined project.
Do you use AI?
Yes, heavily, and openly. AI does a growing share of the drafting craft. What it can't do is sit in the chair. Using it well means my time goes on the judgement that shapes what the drafting should say, and on the rooms AI can't enter.
